Before moving to the prairies, this area was largely unknown to us. Since making it our home, we’ve uncovered both a rich, welcoming community and vast landscapes that continue to inspire—something we’re eager to share with you.
DNA Gardens
This hidden gem is one of our favourite summer stops. DNA Gardens is home to abundant orchards of currants, chokecherries, sour cherries, saskatoons, apples, strawberries, and rhubarb — all harvested for their small-batch wines, ice creams, and more. They’re also home to the oldest saskatoon trees in the province. In July and August, their kitchen comes alive with fresh, seasonal food, and they host beautiful farm-to-table dinners. We love dropping by for a glass of fruit wine, an ice cream bar, or a nourishing meal in the garden.

Dry Island Buffalo Jump
Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park is one of those hidden gems that makes you wonder how it stayed off your radar for so long. With the Red Deer River winding through dramatic badlands and a surprising mix of plant and animal life, it’s a place worth exploring. From the top, you’re treated to sweeping views of the landscape below. In the warmer months, a seasonal road leads you down into the valley, where you can dip your feet in the river. It’s also an ideal starting point for a scenic canoe trip—about three hours downstream will bring you to Tolman.

Tolman - Red Deer River + Badlands
Tolman is a small park and campground, and the closest spot to access the Red Deer River from the farm. As you head down toward the river, the landscape shifts into beautiful badlands—making it a lovely place for a picnic or a swim. If you're out on a canoe trip, this is the nearest spot to pull out and head back to the farm.

Drumheller, Horseshoe Canyon, Horsethief Canyon & Bleriot Ferry
Drumheller, Horseshoe Canyon, Horsethief Canyon, and the Bleriot Ferry (yes—a real prairie ferry that crosses the river via cable from late May to early September) make for a great day trip from the farm. The canyons offer sweeping views of the badlands and are perfect for a scenic stop or short hike. In Drumheller, you can explore the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, snap a photo with the world’s largest dinosaur, or visit one of our favourite spots: Hoodoos Trail where you can wander among the hoodoos and unique rock formations. If your timing lines up, you might even catch a concert at The Badlands Amphitheatre.
