About
In 2021, after many years of city life, Lisa and Geoff began to imagine something different—a quieter, more intentional way of living where community could gather, connect, and grow. In early 2022, that vision took root when they became the stewards of what is now SoTru Farm.
The 16-acre property — formerly known as the Saint Anne Ranch — holds a rich history of community and connection. The first building was constructed in 1902 by Armand Trochu, a French aristocrat in search of spring-fed land to raise cattle and chickens and support a growing settlement. Others soon joined him, and together they built homes and essential structures—the original schoolhouse, post office, and hospital—marking the beginnings of what would become the town of Trochu. When the railroad eventually shifted the town uphill, the original homestead remained, steeped in stories and spirit. Over the years, it served as a tea house and bed & breakfast, lovingly cared for across generations.
When Lisa and Geoff arrived in 2022, it felt like coming home to the life they’d been dreaming of. As they envisioned possibilities for the property, a familiar phrase kept coming up in their conversations: “That’s so true.” And so, SoTru Farm was born.
Bringing events to life alongside Lisa’s daughter Jo and her husband Jesse, they host with a family-forward approach—rooted in care, connection, and a desire to offer others a place to gather, rest, and feel at home. SoTru Farm holds a deeply healing presence and a powerful sense of community rooted in its very foundations. Lisa and Geoff remain committed to honouring the spirit of the land and keeping community at the centre of all that grows here.
History
When the property was known as the Saint Anne Ranch, its former stewards were deeply committed to preserving and sharing its history through a small on-site museum. We’ve since digitized their efforts to make that history accessible here.
